Teddy Thompson has just completed recording his next album, scheduled for release on Verve/Universal this summer. The album contains 12 new Teddy songs and was produced by Marius de Vries (David Gray, Rufus Wainwright, Bjork). More details will be announced soon...
Teddy also continues to tour and has upcoming dates in the US in late March and a month-long solo tour of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland during April. His most recent album, Up Front & Down Low, is an album of covers of classic country songs and was released during the summer of 2007. It features musical contributions from Richard Thompson, Iris DeMent, Rufus Wainwright, Tift Merritt, Robert Kirby and more. Teddy supported the release with appearances on the Late Show With David Letterman and Late Night With Conan O'Brien and tours of the US and UK.
Entertainment Weekly gave Up Front & Down Low a rave review, saying " ... languidly gorgeous songs, Thompson makes gloominess seem like a state of exalted grace" and The New York Times says "... Beautifully finessed chamber-pop versions of weepy country standards." Teddy's earlier albums include the acclaimed 2005 release Separate Ways and his self-titled 2001 debut.
His songs have been featured on the soundtracks to the acclaimed films Brokeback Mountain and I'm Your Man: A Tribute To Leonard Cohen and he has opened tours for Emmylou Harris, Rufus Wainwright, Suzanne Vega, Martha Wainwright and more...
